Care Organization: Founded in 1979, this statewide
not-for-profit organization is dedicated to serving terminally ill Hoosiers and
their caregivers, and the professionals who care for them.
National Hospice and Palliative
Care Organization: The only non-profit public
benefit organization devoted exclusively to hospice care. NHPCO is dedicated to
promoting and maintaining quality care for terminally ill persons and their families
and to making hospice an integral part of the U.S. health care system.

American Health Care Association:
The American Health Care Association (AHCA) is a non-profit federation of affiliated
state health organizations, together representing more than 10,000 non-profit and
for-profit assisted living, nursing facility, developmentally-disabled, and subacute
care providers that care for more than 1.5 million elderly and disabled individuals
nationally.
American Academy of Hospice &
Palliative Medicine: The American Academy of Hospice
and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) is an organization of physicians and other medical
professionals dedicated to excellence in and advancement of palliative medicine
through prevention and relief of patient and family suffering by providing education
and clinical practice standards, fostering research, facilitating personal and professional
development, and by public policy advocacy.
American Society of Law, Medicine
& Ethics: Non-profit educational and research
organization devoted to critical thought in health, law, medicine, bioethics and
patient care. ASLME offers two nationally known peer-reviewed journals, as well
as national conferences on emerging topics in law and medicine.
Alzheimer's Caregiver Support
Online: AlzOnline provides state-of-the-art education,
information, and support to persons caring for someone with a progressive memory
problem. Faced with the reality of caring for someone with progressive memory or
thinking problems, a family's life changes. How does someone learn to deal with
all the changes related to caregiving?
The Center for Hospice,
Palliative Care & End-of-Life Studies: at
USF unites a major research university with community providers of hospice and palliative
care in an equal partnership aimed at influencing policy and practice through research
and education. The Center began informally in 1996, and was formally recognized
by USF in 2000. The Center brings together members from hospices across West Central
Florida, H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute, James A. Haley Veterans
Medical Center , and the University of South Florida . By facilitating collaboration
among experts in end-of-life care who represent multiple disciplines, The Center
is able to generate cutting edge research that addresses issues in hospice, palliative
care, and end-of-life studies from a comprehensive perspective.

Dyingwell.org:
Web site for caregivers, patients and families facing terminal illness, including
writings, resources, and other information on end-of-life care.
GetPalliativeCare.org:
The Center to Advance Palliative Care introduces getpalliativecare.org, a palliative care
resource created for consumers that also includes sections for medical practitioners
and policymakers. This new website is easy to navigate and provides clear, comprehensive
palliative care information to patients and families coping with serious, complex
illness.
Growth House:
A non-profit organization that hosts support groups dealing with death and dying
and provides links to a wealth of end-of-life information.
Hospice and Palliative Nurses
Association: Established in 1986, the Hospice
and Palliative Nurses Association is the nation's largest and oldest professional
nursing organization dedicated to promoting excellence in pain management and end-of-life
care.

Dedicated to improving end-of-life care through sharing of ideas and solutions by
professional care givers, institutions and individuals.
Project GRACE:
A non-profit education organization that provides education programs and resources
in end-of-life medical care and advance care planning. Project GRACE offers a medical-scenario
specific Advance Care Plan document.
Project on Death in America:
The Project on Death in America (PDIA), an Open Society Institute initiative, has
closed. From 1994 to 2003, PDIA worked to understand and transform the culture and
experience of dying and bereavement. Over the course of nine years, PDIA created
funding initiatives in professional and public education, the arts, research, clinical
care, and public policy. PDIA and its grantees have helped build and shape this
important and growing field, and have helped place improved care for the dying on
the public agenda.

developing services, advocating for public and private support, conducting research
and educating the public.

Association
A grassroots organization created to educate, support , and advocate for people
who care for chronically ill, aged or disabled loved ones.

A national, not-for-profit membership organization that provides support to wives,
